Phoenix is a powerful Marvel Comics character primarily associated with the X-Men. The character is intrinsically tied to Jean Grey, a mutant with telepathic and telekinetic abilities.
Jean Grey first appeared as Marvel Girl in *The X-Men* #1 (September 1963). Later, during a mission in space, Jean was imbued with the cosmic Phoenix Force, a powerful and destructive entity of rebirth. This transformed her into the Phoenix.
As the Phoenix, Jean Grey possessed immense power, far exceeding her previous abilities. However, the Phoenix Force proved difficult to control, leading to periods where Jean lost control and became the Dark Phoenix, a being of immense destruction.
